| Outline | This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human. Thrombin is an enzyme involved in blood coagulation and it catalyzes the reaction to convert fibrinogen to fibrin. It is present in blood as inactive prothrombin and activated to thrombin by the action of thromboplastin (thrombokinase) released from platelets in bleeding and calcium ion. Thrombin is known as blood coagulation factor IIa and prothrombin as factor II. |
