| Outline | Mucins, which are viscous liquids secreted by the body such as gastric juice, saliva, and synovial fluid, are complex substances consisting mainly of polysaccharides and proteins or lipids, and are alternatively referred to as muco-substances or muco-complexes.The product is obtained by hydrolyzing porcine gastric wall with pepsin-HCl and precipitating the liquid floating on the surface with approximately 60 % alcohol, and is a viscous gray to milk white liquid when ground and dissolved in water,In determining the titer of cholera vaccine, mucin solution is used as a suspension for cholera vibrio to be administered to vaccinated mice. |
