Outline	It is a reagent that introduces an electron-attracting substituent to the carboxyl group of amino acid or peptide for activation in order to bind the carboxyl group to the amino group of amine components. Those with an activation substituent introduced to the carboxyl group are called active esters and are generally susceptible to moisture absorption in many cases, but can be isolated and purified and withstand the long-term storage in some cases. They are used for increasing the yield of reactants as well as for isolation.They are used for the so-called mixed acid anhydride method, in which acid anhydride is produced by the action of protective amino acid and is then allowed to react with another amino acid.
