Outline	<Protein Engineering><Reagents and Enzymes for Peptide Synthesis><Deprotecting reagent>In the peptide bond formation reaction, amine component and acid component are protected by a temporary protective group and a semi-permanent protective group. For extension of peptide bonds, temporary protective groups such as Boc group are eliminated selectively and the next peptide chain is extended. It is important to select the correct combination between the protecting group and deprotecting group because the protecting group to be eliminated differs depending on the type of deprotecting reagent.HBr/AcOH is used to eliminate the Z group. For HBr/AcOH, 2 equivalents of hydrogen bromide are required on calculation but an excessive amount is usually used.
