Outline	It is used as a silylating (trimethylsilylating) agent for pretreatment before gas chromatography.It is highly reactive not only towards the hydroxyl group and carboxyl group but also amino acids and amides. It is not suited to trimethylsilylation of sugars but reaction is possible by the use of Chlorotrimetylsilane (Wako code 200-08002) as a catalyst. (MW 203.4, bp: 71 to 73 degrees C/35 mmHg)
